Our texturized reproductions bring out
the vibrant colors and have none of the disadvantages of glass-covered
art, with the quality of an original oil painting at much lower
price. Here is how.
While we do carry original oils and limited editions under glass, most
of our big pictures are texturized. That is, using a proprietary
process called Art-Tex, a textured coating is applied to a lithograph
mounted on a strong backing of board. After the coating has dried the
picture is framed. This is a new technique, which makes a lithograph
look like an oil painting. There is no glass and these pictures have
the texture and vibrant colors of an oil painting.
The Picture Lady was privileged to be a part of the original pilot when
this technique was being introduced. We fell in love with it
and have been carrying it ever since. We tested it in heat and
cold, humidity and dry weather. We found it to be not only more
beautiful than traditional framing techniques, but also stronger and
more durable. We are able to frame in any technique, but given a choice
we always select Art-Tex.
Corporate Decorating
The traditional way of framing corporate pictures is to take a
lithograph, mat it and frame it in plexiglass. There are two major
disadvantages to this:
- We have found that plexiglass covered
lithographs fade. In direct sunlight they fade quickly.
- Lithographs (essentially paper) absorb
moisture. They are not a good solution in humid seasons or humid
places.
- Plexiglass is very fragile and it
scratches
easily.
We recommend using texture on your pictures. It will give you the
following advantages:
- Vibrant, vivid colors.
- The painting is placed on a board, which
is
strong and long-lasting.
- The surface is easy to clean with a
feather
duster, or a slightly damp cloth.
- We guarantee our textured
reproductions. If it fades or shows a defect in the first four
years of its life we will replace it free of charge.
In recent years there has been a strong movement towards Giclee,
also called "Transfer on Canvas." We find Art-Tex more affordable and also more
durable. It is easy to damage a canvas. There is the story of the owner
of a Picasso who removed it from the wall to sell, tripped and the
corner of the table went through the picture! Textured
reproductions on board are far superior to canvas because they are
stronger.
Texture is the way to go.
